Set up Camp in Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park has thirteen camping sites. Seven of these require reservations and the rest operate on a first come first served basis. Permits may be reserved 24 weeks to two days in advance of the first day of the planned trip. A non-refundable fee of $5.00 per person will be charged. The popular Yosemite camping areas fill up fast, so reservations can be difficult to get, especially May through September. Some campgrounds allow RV’s and some are tents only.

Yosemite National Park has a 30 day camping limit, but certain areas have additional restrictions. You may only camp for 7 days in Yosemite Valley from May 1 to September 15. Campsites are also restricted to six people and two cars per camp site.

The Yosemite Valley camp sites are a wonderful starting point to enjoying the wonders of the park. There are many trails in the Valley to explore and many magnificent sites to see – El Capitan, Half Dome, Mirror Lake and Yosemite Falls to name a few. The Valley also offers stores, restaurants and a visitor’s center. Camping in Yosemite also gives you access to Tuolumne Meadows, Glacier Point and the Giant Sequoia trees of Mariposa Grove.
